Here's What You Get

Shipping Rate Rule Providers contains 3 shipping providers for BV Commerce 5: Package Rules, Order Rules, and Wrapper. These new providers will appear in the list of providers on BV Admin > Options > Site Settings > Shipping, along side By Item, By Total, etc.

Both Package Rules and Order Rules use rules to calculate shipping costs and divide each order into packages. Order Rules calculates the shipping costs first, based on order properties, and then divides the order into packages. Package Rules divides the order into packages first, and then calculates shipping costs based on the package properties.

The Wrapper provider is used by Package Rules and Order Rules to retrieve rates from any other shipping method. For example, you might create a rule like this:

• If rate from "USPS Priority Mail" is greater than 8.25, Cost = 8.25.

Shipping Method Editor Features

• Create the rules using a point-and-click interface.
• Context sensitive help is available for every field and button.
• A View button shows you the results based on previous orders.
• Import and export rules for backup or to share.

Rule Features

• Use any order, package, or product property to a fixed value, or to any other property. For example,
  If Billing Addresss City is not equal to Shipping Address City, ...
• Compare one rate to any other rate. For example,
  If rate from "USPS Priority Mail" is less than rate from "USPS Parcel Post", ...
• Combine multiple comparisons using "and" and "or" logic. For example,
  If Package Weight is less than 70 and Package Length+Girth < 150, ...
• Hide shipping methods based on conditions. For example,
  If Delivery Distance > 100, hide this method.
